  • Developers: Capcom, Dimps

Street Fighter V carries on the 2D fighting gameplay of its predecessors, in which two fighters use a variety of attacks and special abilities to knock out their opponent. The game features the EX gauge introduced in Street Fighter III, which builds as the player lands attacks and can be used to either power up special moves or perform super combos known as Critical Arts, although the Focus Attacks from the previous game have been removed. New to this game is the “V-Gauge”, which builds as the player receives attacks and adds four new techniques: V-Skills, V-Reversals, V-Triggers, and V-Shifts. V-Skills are special attacks unique to each fighter; for example, Ryu can parry an attack while M. Bison can reflect projectiles, some of which build V-Gauge when successfully performed. V-Reversals allow players to use a section of the V-Gauge to perform a counter move whilst being attacked. Similarly, V-Shifts use one section of the V-Gauge to dodge and potentially counter an incoming attack. Finally, V-Triggers use the entire V-Gauge to allow the player to perform a unique ability, such as a temporary damage boost for Ryu’s energy balls or added hits to Chun-Li‘s attacks. Additionally, the Stun Meter, which has been present since Street Fighter III, is made visible under the health bars in this game. The Stun Meter increases when receiving consecutive attacks and will cause the player to become stunned if filled; thus, it encourages players to play offensively when the opponent’s Meter is close to full. The game also features an interactive arena, showcasing special animations when a player is defeated at the edge of the arena. This game has all of the elements required for fighting games which makes it a must have for all gamers that are into this genre and if you want to give it a try you can do so by clicking one the links below.

UFC 4 is a fighting game based on the mixed martial arts promotion Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). There are 229 unique fighters, with 81 alternate versions. The game features a career mode, which was designed to be an “onboarding experience” to teach the player the basics of four MMA disciplines which include boxingkickboxingwrestling, and jiujitsu. The goal of the career mode, which allows players to create their own custom fighter, is to become the G.O.A.T. (which stands for “greatest of all time”). As players progress in the game, they can choose to accept or decline fights, which will affect the development of the fighter’s career. The control scheme was also improved and streamlined to make the game more accessible. Multiplayer modes, including Blitz Battles, and Online World Championships, would also be available. In addition to fighting in The Octagon, players can also fight in Backyard and Kumite, which resembles an underground fighting arena. However, unlike its predecessor, Ultimate Team would not return in UFC 4. After analyzing the game, we conclude that EA Sports UFC 4 is definitely one of the best fighting games in the market right now until UFC 5 releases and if you want to get your hands on it today, click one of the links below.

2. Mortal Kombat 11

  • Release Date: April 23, 2019
  • Developers: NetherRealm Studios, QLOC, Shiver Entertainment
  • Engine: Unreal Engine 3
  • Modes: Multiplayer video game, Single-player video game
  • Genres: Fighting game, Action game, Adventure game

Mortal Kombat 11 is a 2.5D fighting game. Alongside the returning Fatalities, Brutalities, Stage Fatalities, Friendships and Quitalities, new gameplay features are introduced, such as Fatal Blows and Krushing Blows. Fatal Blows are special moves similar to the X-ray moves in Mortal Kombat X. Like X-ray moves, Fatal Blows deal a large amount of damage, but unlike them, they only become available when a player’s health drops below 30%, and can only be performed once per match. Krushing Blows are a special cinematic variation of a given special move, triggered when certain requirements are met, like most Brutalities in the previous game. Also new to the series is a Flawless Block mechanic, which allows for a comeback window after blocking an attack with precise timing. Another returning finisher is Mercy, last seen in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, where the winning player can opt to revive their opponent, giving them a small amount of life.

Mortal Kombat 11 introduces a Custom Variation feature which offers a character customization system similar to the Gear system in NetherRealm Studios’ previous DC Comics fighting game Injustice 2, improving over the Variation system featured in Mortal Kombat X. Each character has an initial set of outfits, weapons and moves, which can be further customized by the player. However, unlike Injustice 2, in Mortal Kombat 11 the characters’ appearance does not determine their abilities, allowing the players to create custom move lists independently of their character’s appearance. All of this has secured this game a place in the all time bests of the fighting games genre. Get your hands on this game by clicking one of the links given below.

1. Tekken 7

  • Release Date: February 18, 2015
  • Developers: BNE Entertainment, BANDAI NAMCO Studios
  • Publisher: BNE Entertainment
  • Mode: Multiplayer video game
  • Genres: Fighting game, Sports Video Game, Beat ‘em up, Simulation Game

Tekken 7 focuses on 1v1 battles. New features to the gameplay include:

  • Rage Art: A critical move unique to each character and only accessible while in Rage mode, causing it to deactivate until the next round. If the initial attack hits the opponent, it will trigger a cinematic sequence and deal roughly 30% damage, depending on the character.
  • Power Crush: Performs an attack that can absorb an opponent’s hits with the Mid or High property and continue attacking.
  • Screw hits: This largely replaces the Ground Bound (formerly simply as Bound) mechanic, which added significant opportunity to perform long, high-damage combos, by knocking an opponent hit with a launcher back to the ground into a vulnerable state. Screw hits have similar applications as Ground Bounding moves, but the receiving opponent’s animation is altered, putting them into an aerial tailspin (i.e. a “screw”) as they fall to the ground. Unlike the Ground Bound, Screw hits cannot be used to do wall combos.

With a new display system, the game’s multiplayer allows players to choose which side of the screen to play on. Movement has undergone some changes and is similar to the movement mechanics found in Tekken Revolution, most notably when characters walk backwards. The arcade version features the traditional stage-based playthrough, in which the player progresses by beating five different opponents one by one, ending with a fixed penultimate and final stage. Matches may be interrupted if another player joins the game. Online mode is available for both local and international play. Character customization is featured, allowing the player to modify characters’ appearances. For the first time in the arcade series, the game features a practice mode, which allows players to train moves against an opponent for a limited amount of time, as well as an option to collect in-game rewards, mainly customization items, through “Treasure Box” by winning enough matches.

Tekken 7 is no doubt one of the best fighting games that one can buy in the modern day and age and if you are looking to get it for yourself – which we highly recommend if you are into the fighting games genre – click on one of the links below.
